    Another portrait...

of my co-worker, Xerix. I think he likes this one best out of all that I've taken of him.

schrakman -- Iike the pose, the color and the subject. It seems that the skin may be a little too soft and even. Has it been softened? He's a guy afterall -- don't wuss him up too much

Oh yeah. I read about a good technique to reduce the contrast/prominence of nostrils in PS. this may be a useful case for it.

lol...no, he's not worried that it looks too sissy. Besides, I wouldn't present it to him if I thought I looked that way either. It's just a neat effect I'm using and working on and he seems to like it, so if the client is satisfied so am I.

I like the angle and everything about it. but, I think the skin is too soft it's blotchy. (this coming from someone who over softens everything)

He is Filipino isn't he. They don't have skin like that, I agree with Hodgy, it is over softened to the point of being blotchy.

I'm married to a Filipino and she thinks it looks weird as well. The dark holes in the Nostrils is disconcerting as well. There is a PS technique that allows you to adjust the lighting inside the nostrils to not be so hollow as well, wish I could find the link to show it to you.

Yes, Peter, he is Filipino. But with this image I wasn't looking to create just a normal portrait or even to mimic reality but was rather trying to be a bit creative/artsy, hence the extreme softness and out-of-tone skin tone. I guess it's not for everyone.

Just thought I would bring an update on this photo...I mentioned that my coworker sends the pictures that I take of him to families and friends in the Philippines, who in turn send them to people they know "in the business". Well, apparently this picture made it into the hands (er, email client) of someone who works at a magazine in the Philippines and they loved it. despite their knowing that this is not his "natural" look but a photoshop editing. This person had suggested asking Xerix if he would consider a modeling contract. No details yet as to how much they're willing to pay, or even what magazine he'd be modeling for, but if I get those details I will be sure to share them with you.
