    Have an f/2.8 day!

My wife, who is not a photographer, was on a photography website and saw something that said "Have an f/2.8 day." She asked me what it meant, and I didn't know what to tell her. I have never heard this expression before. I'm assuming it's a good thing.

Have you ever heard this expression before?

    Re: Have an f/2.8 day!

I tried googling it and all I found was a guy selling ties that said f/2.8 on them.

Yeah I'm holding out for the f/1.7 ties myself.

I guess when we're wide open, we're just not sharp enough to catch on to these tidbits of wisdom.

    Re: Have an f/2.8 day!

lol, f/2.8 is also a fairly bright aperture, and usually the maximum aperture of nearly all popular top-tier zoom lens. Olympus 4/3rd mount has some brighter zooms at f/2, and some fixed primes go as wide open as f/1.2, though in rangefinder optics you can get as wide as 0.78, so the aperture diaphragm would be even wider than the focal angle.

Bottom line, Rick's "wide open wonderful" sounds like a good interpretation.

But, an f/32 day could be, sharp as hell also, maybe an f/32 day could also be taken in a positive light, the sharpness of dim light, lol, okay I'm done with the puns.

Maybe its a bad thing, maybe its saying, "Have a very shallow depth of focus day."

This is one of the things I told my wife when she asked me what it meant.

I also said it could mean have an "expensive" day or have a "heavy" day.
