    Handheld one second shutter speed

A friend of mine and I went down to the marina last night after out weekly photography meeting to take some pictures. I was telling him that I had fairly steady hands. I didn't have my tripod with me so I took a few handheld shots to show him what I could do. This shot was only taken to show him how steady my hands are and not for any other reason. I took this handheld without any support at a shutter speed of one second with my Nikon D7000 with my Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM. See what you think, Jeff

Remarkable... Don't think I could accomplish that.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

If I wrapped the strap around my arms and used them to tie the camera to my shoulder, I might approach this ability. I've done half-second shots with the straps wrapped and leaning against a pole. Now you're gonna make me go out and try!

I appreciate all the comments. I have always had a fairly steady hand. I regularly shoot at 1/20 without even concentrating on what I am doing. I have found many shots at 1/5 second that were sharp that I had taken and didn't realize it was that slow until looking at it on my computer and noticing the speed in the info section, Jeff

That could be it, but I think that the real reason is that at my age I just move pretty slow, Jeff

You gotta give some credit to Sigma's OS image stabilization. That said, getting a photo this sharp handheld at 1 second is ridonculous.
