    Fruita Road Trip

I recently did a roadtrip to Fruita, Colorado, for the annual Fruita Fat Tire Festival. Six of went, including Gregg - the Mtbr.com manager, Francis - Mtbr.com and ConsumerREVIEW.com founder, and Raymond - the original graphic designer for this and rest of the ConsumerREVIEW.com Web sites. We went on a mountain bike pilgrimage. Besides Fruita, we also made stops in Moab and Hurricane, Utah. I'm not excatly sure, but I think we had about 8 cameras along fro the ride. I brough my 10D, the G6, and a Konica Minolta DiMage A200 I'm currently testing.

Since you don't all appreciate mountain bikes, I'll work into it slowly, with some pretty flower pictures ;)

    Smile Welcome back!

    We missed you!

These pictures are sooooo nice. I love the first one. What type of flower is that? It almost looks like a type of cactus.

I notice the mountain bikes creeping - altho rather blurred - into the background. So I presume they will get sharper in the next group?

The most important element - I'm sure you had great FUN!

    Liz

    Big Landscape

This is a panoramic constructed of 5 frames from the Konica Minolta DiMage A200. It's an 8 megapixel camera with Anti-Shake, so it's well suited for this sort of thing. The full-sized file is 12,000 pixels wide. It's huge. I've uploaded a 6000 pixel version to the gallery, if you're interested:

The photo was taken near the top of a trail in Moab called Amasa Back. The mountains are the La Salles. They're east of Moab. The highest peaks are 12,000 feet, I believe.

    Co-Conspirators

A couple of other guys from the office. The first is Francis, the company founder. Although I run this site, without Francis, it wouldn't exist.

The second is Gregg. He manages Mtbr.com, our mountain bike community site, the largest site in the ConsumerREVIEW.com network, and the blueprint for all of our sites. Mtbr started it all.

    Exposure

And a different kind of exposure than some of you photo folks are used to. We encountered lots of this stuff. Big cliffs are part of the deal when riding in and around Moab.

    The End

Francis and Ray taking a break at the top of the climb, on the Porcupine Rim Trail, east of Moab. That's Castle Valley, in the background. The Colorado River runs through the other end of the valley.

If you want to see more, there's a huge discussion about Fruita Fat Tire Festival, on Mtbr:

    http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=99235

And there's a gallery didicated to the event (and our roadtrip), too: http://gallery.mtbr.com/showgallery....=630&password=

Hope you like this stuff. I don't share my mountain bike stuff that much anymore. But I thought there was enough variety here that most people would find something interesting

    Re: Co-Conspirators

Looks like Francis has made a few changes to his bike since I saw it last back in August.
    Those RBR.com threads look sweet!

    Thanks

Thanks, Liz. But I've been here. I've just had so much work I haven't been visible. I've been taking product photos, studio photos, and editing professional reviews. It looks like that's where the majority of my time is going to be going. But I really wanted to share some of the photos from my trip with you guys. Like I said, even if you don't care about bikes, the terrain is so epic, you've got to appreciate it.

But thanks for the welcome back, anyway. I appreciate it

    Re: Fruita Road Trip

I checked out the 6000px version of the pano shot, very sharp and very wide! I hate to admit I've never tried one although I've got a bunch of instructions on how to do it.

I see working it in slowly meant a whole two shots! ;) Nice shots as usual, cap'n.
