    Fish under glass

I took this at the aquarium in Gatlingburg, Tn, and thought it came out pretty good so I decided I would post my settings for those of you that might be visiting an aquarium and need a starting point for the settings to use on your camera. I set my camera to aperture priority and set the aperture to F7.1 so I could get some depth of field. The ISO was set to 1600 with a shutter speed of 1/60 sec. I was using matrix metering and popped up the on board flash for fill light. This was shot with a Nikon D600 and Tamron 24-70 F2.8 lens. You do need to remember to watch out for the flash reflection in the glass.

Jeff you probably could have pushed that D600 past 1600 iso easily and still had a wonderful picture. Or like me it may take you awhile to get use to trusting these new full frame cameras on up there at 3200 and 6400.

Greg, you are correct and I have shot my D600 at ISO 3200 and 6400 several times with excellent results but just because I can doesn't mean I need too. These settings were what I needed to get what I wanted for these conditions and then added the fill flash. A lot of people here do not have a camera that will shoot at these high ISO's so I thought I would just post the settings I used to maybe give newer shooters some where to start when they try.
