Does anyone do live concert photos?

I have spent most of the last 10 years either on tour with bands or going to shows, concerts, music festivals, etc, and love trying to catch the perfect moment...


Is anyone else on here a concert photographer?

I got press passes to a huge rock show here in town the other night featuring Avenged Sevenfold, Buckcherry, Shinedown, and Saving Abel (i don't listen to any of the bands, but who's going to pass up the oppurtunity, right?)

Being up front and having a real, professional lighting setup there was a LOT easier to produce quality photos than to be pushed up in a sweaty bar getting bumped every 2 seconds! :mad2:

Newbie here on the board, just got a Canon Xsi. I have several friends in bands so I will be taking lots of concert photos. Hope to share some when I do get some.

Hey CC, I recently asked something similar and just got the same camera you have. I ordered an 50mm F/1.8 and it should be here tomorrow!

Josh, I ordered one too. I am hoping it comes in before I go home for Christmas on the
22nd but if it don't at least it will be here for New Years Weekend. One of my friends is playing three nights that week at the Jack Daniels Saloon in the Opryland Hotel. It's not dark in there though, so may be a little while before I have a dark shoot. Chris and Preston are playing the Wildhorse Saloon which would be a great place to try out the new lens, but I will be in Mississippi.

Posted a few here - Gig Thread before I realised there was a separate Gig thread already! The lot had to be done at ISO 1600 and the 30d really struggles up there. The band were pleased with them though and already have them up on their web site.
