Do you ever dream about photography?

Do you ever have photography dreams? Not the kind of dreams like, "I want to be a rich and famous photogrpher", "I want to be a profesional photographer" or "I want to shoot the next cover on my favorite magazine" I mean dreams while you're sleeping?

I had one last night. I drempt that I was driving home from work and I came across a scene that was absolutely stunning. The light was increidible and everything was perfect for a beautiful landscape photo. I had all my gear with me, but by the time I had made up my mind to shoot the scene, I was past it. No problem it was right at an exit on the highway so I pulled off, and got back on the highway going the oposite direction I was originally traveling to get back to the sceen. As soon as I got back on the highway, I ran into road constructions. Basically, there was no road, and I couldn't get back to the sceen I wanted to photography. The more I tried to figure out how to get back to where I needed to be to get the shot, the more frustraited I became. The light was changing fast and there was nothing I could do to get the shot. :mad2: Then the alarm went off and I had to go shovel snow...

Re: Do you ever dream about photography?

I have photography dreams all the time, though mine are never that in depth. They are always the same pretty much. I find myself at a miscellaneous landscape, with camera and tripod all set up. Light meter in hand. And my whole dream is always just me sitting there contemplating how I want to compose and expose my shot. I always just sit there never really finding the best angle to shoot the scene. I'm not sure if in any of the dreams I have ever even fired a shot...LOL Have fun psycho-analyzing the meaning behind that  :yikes:

Re: Do you ever dream about photography?

I'll sometimes have dreams about something I'll be shooting in the next day. Last night I had a dream about photographing the MTB race I'm going to this weekend. In fact, it got me a couple ideas for photos

If I'm getting new equipment I dream about it as well.

Re: Do you ever dream about photography?

When I dream about photography, it's usually some version of me trying to get a shot that I just can't get. It happens in numerous ways, but it's mostly street or something where the subject is constantly changing. Come to think of it, those dreams are pretty realistic.

Re: Do you ever dream about photography?

I had another one last night. I was at a club/bar watching a band play. There was a guy walking around with a Mk III pointing it all over the place and firing it like a machine gun. He had a fisheye lens.

I also had one where I was shooting with a Hasselblad. The details are are a bit sketchy, but I did enjoy shooting with it.

I'm not sure whether to classify this as obsession or possession. :yikes:

    I do quite often.

When Liz had a lens for sale I dreamt about it all night. I made her an offer the next day and I'd have to say it's my fave.

Re: Do you ever dream about photography?

I "Daydream" about photography quite alot., but not actually dream. I might but do not remember in the morning. My daydreams are basically about how I will set up my lighting for some portrait I'm experimenting with . . or, about a particuliar spot that I want to shoot and how I intend to approach it. I become caught up in these daydreams and unaware of whats going on around me sometimes. I am like a child dreaming about playing . . .

I can't say I have ever had dreams about photography, but I have had dreams about other activities that so vivid I felt compelled to recreate them as photographs.

Re: Do you ever dream about photography?

Obligatory comment.... (reference to dreaming in B&W or color)

But the real question is, when you dream about photography, are you taking pictures in B&W or color?

    Sorry, couldn't resist
    Cheers,
    Greg
