How to tell the most experienced shooter in a group? They have the least amount of toys on them.

    EAS?

Might be a really nice addition eventually, 'we' now rely on phones for a lot more than vocal communication (text, email, web browsing, camera). Just a different way of thinking how people operate. But I still stand by my stills...

    Re: Digital SLRs With Video

I find the idea interesting, but not something I would upgrade for. If I did upgrade to a camera that had it, fine, but that feature would have little to do with my choice in upgrade. I'm sure I would use it if I had it though.

An interesting incident I had a few weeks ago. I was at the county fair where my wife was participating in an event to raise money for charity. She asked me to bring the video camera and tape it. Since I had the video camera, I left my DSLR and P&S at home. Just before they started the event, they announced NO VIDEO CAMERAS. Like everyone else, I ignored the message. A few minutes later they came around and started hanging up signs that said no video cameras, so I put mine away.

If I had a DSLR with the video function, or even our P&S, I could have shot video without anyone questioning a thing. I'm sure many people in the crowd shot video with their non-video cameras.

Probably. There's always a way to get away with something if you really want. Not directed at you personally...

I voted awesome. Being able to shoot a small clip with a good lens would be great.

Who wants to buy me a 5D M II?

I imply from the blog that he thinks the low light performance exceeds the XH A1.

that should depend on the lens being used. maybe it has the potential with a fast lens to exceed it.

    Re: Digital SLRs With Video

I guess the 5d mII has better noise reduction than the XH A1 and it might be fine for an indie filmaker, but it would be useless for documentaries and live broadcast as well as any situation where you couldn't completely control the light - look how the exposure shifts on the moon in the credit sequence. I wonder how many takes it took to get the push focus right?

I still want one, but if i got it for the video function i would have to by a full lighting rig and a dat recorder to get close to what i can achieve with the XH A1
