    Credit Union purchasing my images

Maybe getting a new camera soon. A couple of months ago a Credit Union got in touch with me about purchasing some of my pictures for decorating their new branch and that they would need about 10 to 12 pictures on canvas to decorate with. We have been communicating and they let me know today that they ended up wanting twenty four canvas prints with an additional photo to use in a brochure. I am quite excited about the whole thing and they will be placing the order within the next week or two. I must say that I am a happy camper.

Congratulations Jeff! Wow! This is such great news! I'm so happy for you - and just want to say that you deserve it!

BTW, what camera are you thinking about? Just wondering!

    Enjoy!

Re: Credit Union purchasing my images

I have had several things going on for a while that has kept me occupied and I haven't been very active on our site except for getting rid of spam. It is nice to have friends that I can share some of what has been going on photography wise. Thanks for the congrats and hope everyone else gets the same opportunity to place some of their pints. Liz, I am thinking about going full frame and getting the Nikon D600. I am tempted by the new Nikon D7100 because all my lenses would work with it. If I get the D600 it will require me to purchase a Nikon 24-70 F2.8 because I really like and use my Sigma 17-50 F2.8 a lot and it is not designed for a FF camera. Besides the $2000.00 for the camera it will be an additional $1800 for the lens which is a lot of money for me being retired. This photo job might allow me to consider the new camera and lens. I'm still on the fence about it though. Jeff

    Congratulations Jeff!

About the 24-70 , remember it is not a VR lens, I have used it and it impressed me with the size and weight, at the same time I was not impressed with the photos captured with this lens they didn't really look any better than the ones done with my 50mm f/1.8 AFS

Photo friends keep telling me the 24-70 is the best, I do not know if they say that because the amount they paid for it, but in the conditions I used it I saw no advantage vs my prime lens costing 1/8 of the big heavy zoom, the range is small I can often zoom that range with my feet , unless I run out of space.

If the D600 or the 7100 had been available when I decided to upgrade from the D300 I do not think I would have purchased the D800, also if the 7100 had been available at the same time as the D600 I do not think I would have moved to FX.

I do not regret it one bit, but I'm still in the process of upgrading to FX lenses

Maybe waiting a bit to see if the 7100 comes out free of quality issues is a good idea ?

The D7100 is the other camera I have been considering. All my lenses will work and I won't loose the long reach that I enjoy now. I use my 70=200VR F2.8 with a 2x extender a lot to get the equivalent of 600mm and with the D7100 I could use the 1.3 crop factor and make that extend to 800mm where on the full frame a 200mm with a 2x extender would only give me 400mm or half of the reach. Both have good and bad points to think about. I'm not in a hurry but if I get a new camera it will be between these two.
