    The fine art of bonsai

Found this kit at Barnes and Nobles, picked it up for my husband. Came with an instruction book which was very very funny.

Yes, this is what it is supposed to look like.

Adina'll have to tell you for sure, but I think it's either a Burbank Pine or a Russet spruce.

I was at Barnes and Nobles, picking up some thumb print activity books (they show you how to make all different pictures from a thumb print) and saw this at the checkout. It is The Bonsai Potato kit, which we've had a really good time with.

So my husband goes to the store to buy some potatoes, you are supposed to pick a couple that you feel at one with. Puts them in a dark drawer probably 3 days ago. Yesterday, we were cleaning up because we were having company, and he was in the pantry looking for something, and found a whole bag of pre-Bonsai'd potatoes. I bought a bag of potatoes about 3 months ago, and forgot about them. They picked the one they wanted to use on the authentic potato altar, and spent a good hour practicing their trimming techniques on the rest of them. The girls loved it.

I think Chuck is correct with Russet spruce, not sure.
