    California Adventure

The theme park, that is. Took my wife and two daughters yesterday and had an absolute great time, excepting the blisters on my feet by the end of the night.

Here are just a few pics.

Great pics Shrack! It looks like a ton of fun. I really like the one of the roller coaster, and the ferris wheel/reflection. Those are wonderful!
What is the deal with that one ride with plastic shield?? What is that? All I could think of was that it is to catch throw up so it doesnt hit anyone below! ;)

Thanks Villenadecorte, and yes those plastic shields are for the pukers, hehe. I thought it was to catch air and increase the effect of the ride as they slung upwards! So much for what Dad knows, as my daughters laughed at my explanation and quickly corrected me.

I think it's also to deflect flying sunglasses, hats, coins, stuffed animals, etc. back into the lap rather than letting them go flying to the ground.

    Maybe.

My fave is the big letter A with your daughter inside. Then I love the theatre shot, then the reflected ferris wheel. I know exactly what spot you took the roller coaster shot...right before they accelerate! My son was just thrilled with that feature, because he absolutely didn't expect it.

Do they still have "A Bug's Life"? I loved that show. I also liked that ride that makes you feel like you're flying over the California countryside. Then I loved that area, it's just a garden, really, but it tries to encapsulate the "feel" of California, and I think it does a terrific job!

My son and I got stuck on the Hollywood Limo ride, just at closing. We were the only ones on the ride, and the ride stopped halfway through, in the depths of the building. We sat there for a good 10 minutes, alone, right in front of an animated Tim Allen shrugging his shoulders. I suppose as you go through the ride and see him shrugging for 10 seconds it looks fine, but imagine sitting there watching him for 10 minutes! It was hilariously freaky!

I loved that park (well, except for Mulholland Drive, which HURT!). Too bad it gets such bad press. Yes there are better parks (Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, for instance) but CA Adv isn't a bad park. I liked it better than Knott's.

Some really great fun pictures here. I love it when you can take a fun trip with the family and still come away with quality images the way you have done. My favorite is the ferris wheel reflection. Thanks for sharing these with us.

Schrackman, these are all good images, nicely composed and very vibrant! I especially like the ferris wheel reflection in the water, and the smoky/foggy theatre shot. I really like the angle on the shot with the shield...but if it were for the pukers or flying belongings... wouldn't it be on -all- of the rides? And wouldn't there still be a chance of the puke flying upwards anyway? Hmm... Just a thought.

I think the puke happens on the way up. It would be doubtful that a body could react and the material "appear" outside the body (how's that for sterilizing my words!) in the short time someone is coming down. In fact, even if they wanted to puke, I think the G-forces would keep it inside until they got down. I have ridden those types of rides for a long time, and the trip down almost glues you back into the seat.

these are fantastic...I'd consider sending a letter and some sample shots to the Graphics Dept and see if they are looking for a photographer for promos and stufff....this far surpasses their usual photography...nice work...sorry it took so long to respond
