As in London, England?

We are possibly looking at the opportunity to spend some time there. As of right now, it is just a thought, but if it becomes something more serious, I was hoping I could get some info.

London is really good because there are lots of galleries and places to buy second-hand gear. It's a capital city like Paris or New York so it's just bursting with interesting things.

DON'T take a car. Last time I took my French-registered car and I parked in my usual place for a little bit more than the time on the parking meter - the car got towed away. I had to go over to deepest Camden Town to get it back. I was so furious I didn't even do any pictures of the area, but it was so interesting with all these old canals and stuff..

A few times - a week at a time. I've got a cousin that lives there - so I can always ask her any questions.

I love London - it's a neat neat city.

I was hoping there would be one or two that were somewhat familiar with the area.

If things go that way, we would be looking at about 2 years over there. When we know, I'll post again.

... back in '90 with my aunt. Like the others have said, since it's a capitol city there's plenty of things to see and do.

Getting around wasn't too bad. My aunt helped me (& my brothers) get a monthly transportation pass to use the Underground and the (famous double-decker) buses. The Underground does get you to most places around the city. Using the buses was pretty neat ... especially being my first time. If you needed them, the Cabbie's were plentiful and friendly (back then... I don't know how the current political atmosphere has changed things). I really did enjoy the experience of traversing the city and getting around - of course, I was tourist back then so living and working there will be different.

Interesting tidbit, back then my aunt had an apartment. The building always had water pressure problems so taking showers and stuff was always an interseting juggle. Of course, that also meant trips to a laundro-mat. That was pretty fun for me (at the time). My aunt now owns a home in the London suburbs so things are better in that respect.

Overall, I'd love to go back. Granted I only spent 2 weeks there as a tourist - as opposed to living and working there. People were always courteous and friendly, the cultural experience was unforgettable ... and the exchange rate killed me ;) uggh! But, honestly, it was a great place.
