    Re: Another 50mm f1.8 Thread

Great photos everyone! I am thinking about getting a 50mm 1.8 for my nikon d60 but the camera does not have a built in focuser (camera cant focus lens by itself relies on lens) Do i fork up the extra $100 and get 1.4 or is 1.6 not sure that comes with a built in focus motor?

Well just my two cents from experience with the D60-when I first purchased the exact lens your referring to I nearly sent it back. It was sooo frustrating having to manual focus everything. I hadn't been shooting long, the D60 is my first camera and I'd only have about 4 months of any sort of practice. It was tiring, difficult and had a big learning curve. HOWEVER, after having it for two months I LOVE the lens. Love it. Did I mention that I love it? I'm still learning of course but depending on what you want to shoot it's a great lens-and for a hundred bucks, it’s worth it. Eventually, if you love Nikon (which I'm sure you do and will continue to) and you ever decide to upgrade, you won't have to worry about your little motoring problem. So. .02......there.

    Re: Another 50mm f1.8 Thread

Here is Rockwell's review of the new 50mm f/1.4 afs G,(note the G). It is Nikon's new 50 that will autofocus with the D40, D40x, and D60.
Here is his review of the 50mm ais D which has been around for a bunch of years because it is a great prime lens and cheap as lenses go. It will NOT auto-focus on the D60.
However its price is coming down because of the new 50mm and can now be had for 350 give or take. The new G rated lens is going to cost around 480 to 500. You'll have to decide if the auto-focus is worth the extra. I guess they don't plan to make a 1.8 afs.
I'm thinking of switchin even though the 50 I have does auto-focus with my D80

Looks like you and the 50mm are going to have a great time together. Nice first effort with it.

    Thanks OT,

My 50mm F1.4 was hardly ever off the film camera and its good to get back to it. The sharpness of this thing is incredible for the price.

    Thanks OT.
Yeah I love her eyes too. They are so dark you can't see the pupil!

I'm not sure my kids realise how lucky they are.
Their sister paints their faces ALL the time when she is here. Something that many children only get when they go to fair's/fete's. And then you have to pay a fortune for each child to have it done.

AND on top of that, my kids get a lovely portrait as a keepsake.

Having said that, I'm a lucky Mum to have so many beautiful willing models
