    Adobe Lightroom for Windows

The Adobe Lightroom beta for Windows is available for download from Adobe. The download and install was easy enough. I am playing with it now.

I've been using this on my Mac for the past few months, it is phenomenal, GET IT. You will see what the future of photo editing looks like. And don't compare it to Photoshop, which is an image editor, this is for editing, developing and printing of photos, it's not intended for graphical work like Photoshop.

Cool, I'll have to download and watch the intro video tonight sometime.

I've just started using Adobe Bridge, and I don't know why I hadn't done so earlier. Makes it a lot easier to go through 1,000 plus photos and select ones I want to edit, delete, etc. Especially since I've been shooting more and more RAW files and Microsoft's built in viewer doesn't handle viewing those yet.

    Speeding,

It is a RAW editor. This and Aperture are both designed around a RAW workflow. RAW files are stored only once, and changes are saved in a database and displayed on the fly. Lightroom does not have versioning yet, but Aperture can let you have as many version of an image as you want without ever creating any additional files beyond the original RAW. It really is a great way of working and making edits.

If you're using a Canon or Nikon camera, Microsoft has an update addressing that issue:

I have also used the mac version for a while and it never quite clicked for me. I used Bridge for over a year to view and quickly edit and sort photos...but Lightroom while it had nice features was slow for me and I was not satisfied overall. I found Aperture (mac only) preferable but I'm not going to commit myself to it at this point, considering that more and more options will become available shortly. Personally I'll make my decision after Nikon View Pro becomes available and I try it out.

Remember this is a beta version. They tend to be slow while the folks writing the code trim the fat and tweak it. I thought it was a bit slow as well, but I am sure the final release will perform better.

Seb, I've heard good things about LR, but how is it different than using Bridge with the PS RAW converter, which so far works like a gem for me...

    Re: Adobe Lightroom for Windows

better wouldn't cut it for me. I no longer find the quality of Adobe raw conversions to be satisfactory on any of their programs. So really it was more of a formality of trying out free software just to make sure I didn't like it

    Re: Adobe Lightroom for Windows

I enjoy this program. This should speed up work flow for anyone who needs to do a million raw's a day. I for one could continue using photoshop, because I dont sell or distribute my photos anywhere yet, and I have plenty of extra time(being 16 and all) to just continue using photoshop and the RAW plugin.

But... since the beta is free and it really works, I'll be using this from now on.
