    Canonet is here!

And talk about fast shipment! I just won this camera on Ebay on Friday, and at lunch today it's sitting on my doorstep...all the way from the east coast via Priority Mail. Everything looks to be in good condition, only the upper seal on the door is just a tad worn but doesn't look too bad to where it needs replacement.

Unfortunately I really won't get to fool with it much this week as our church has VBS till after Thursday. But hopefully this weekend I can shoot my first roll!

Boy, seeing that little jem sitting there makes me wish I would have bought the one I saw at the thrift store last year. Congrats on getting your new toy!

You can still get them pretty cheap on Ebay, Michael. Just make sure they say it's in excellent condition. Mine looks like it's hardly been used. I opted for the "Buy it now" option, because I didn't want to fool with bidding on this particular camera. I'm very glad now I made that decision.

I also just bought my first roll of film tonight, one color the other b/w. Can't wait to see how the prints come out, or, I should say, to see how I well I can shoot with a film camera, lol. What's neat about this camera is that it has a meter that tells you if you are in the proper exposure range. Of course, it looks to me as if they put the 1.5v battery in there as opposed to the original 1.3v, so it may throw the exposure off a bit. We'll see.

Probably the main reason is that it's different to focus. Not the two yellow dots in the viewfinder; the lever on the lens for focusing. It's not that different but it always felt weird to me. Great camera though, especially for the prices they sell for. I agree about finding one in excellent condition and hopefully with replaced light seals (like mine). I think I only paid about $65 for mine and they might even be less today.

Batteries can be kind of a hassle - the best one IMO is the Wein Zinc-Air battery and get them from B&H because they're relatively cheap there. Lots of other options but some not too convenient. The wrong voltage will throw the reading off, but if you're using neg film you might be OK.

That's very fast shipping! No sign of my Canon FT QL yet and I believe I won my auction before you did. Have fun with it!

B&H Photo has 1.3 volt replacement batteries, that are not mercury based.
