    $5 estate sale find...

Was looking for a Leica or something similar but came across this instead...a Polaroid Land Camera Model 95a in near perfect condition, made around 1957. In fact, it was the only camera on the premises that I could find.

It came with original flash, a wink flash, Polaroid light meter and a large leather carrying case.

I've read where one can actually convert this camera to shoot 4x5 since the kind of film it takes is no longer available. If I don't do that I just might put this up on Ebay.

Now that brings back memories. Not sure if its the same model. But looks
like the camera my Dad had when I was young.

Hey Brian, they have Dianas on Ebay all the time. They usually sell for around $40 or so. Dianas went by a lot of other names too, you know. Check out this link of you haven't seen it yet: http://www.toycamera.com/cam/diana.html.

I've never heard of a Fujipet, but did a quick search and found this: http://members.cox.net/sjrohde7/

Now that's a cool/cute looking camera. Pictures are somewhat holga like too!

I know about Diana's Ray, I think they are a bit too expensive for my tastes.
That's why I am saying if you ever come across one or a Fujipet, at a yardsale, please remember me!
Fujipet's are considered to be rare, especially the red one. I have seen Fujipet's go for as much as $200 on EBay.

Are you going to do the 4 by 5 film back conversion?

    Re: $5 estate sale find...

I'm not sure yet, freygr. I was seriously thinking about a 120 conversion today but the more I look at it the more it seems too involved. Not only that, I was thinking how much more cost effective 120 film is than 4x5, but the conversion itself to 120 would probably be more than I want to spend right off the bat. Oh dilemma!

As it stands now, the camera will accept a single 4x5 sheet with no modification. Problem is, every time you wish to take a photo you have to change the film under total darkness, just like the old days.

The razzledog 4x5 conversion looks pretty neat, I must say. I don't know if he does conversions for the 95A or even what is entailed in the conversion, but I emailed him and am awaiting a response.
