    two mountain bike pictures

This is the only good mountain bike shot I got because everything is in in focus. I have a hard time getting a picture that is focussed properly on the rider because my camera has a slow autofocus. The only way I can get a good picture is if I lock the focus on an object close to where the rider will go. This doesn't always work because the rider ends up going higher/ farther and out of focus. Any tips on how to focus better? Anyway here is the picture and another artsy type picture of my bike.
