    Some Utah MMA

Shooting another MMA event this weekend. Here are a few shots of the weigh-ins. Will post some fight shots later after the event.

    7. This fight went a little over 1 minute. Ended to a wicked neck kick. I missed it..... It happened very fast.

    9. Ouch! My fricken neck! This dude took it like a champ. And had a great attitude about getting worked over. Kasheem Peterson is a guy you need to watch for in the UFC. He is rising fast.

Oh wow - these are beautiful! Some tech info, please! Someone tell that first guy to wear something besides purple chones for the next weigh-in. I saw more than I wanted in that photo

Great action shots ! The last one is good, too. Looks like the lack of light was not something you had to deal with

Thanks guys! As far as the light goes, like all indoor events it seems bright but it is really really dark. I shot these with a D3s and a Nikon 80-200AFS from f2.8-f4 all 1/1000-1/1250. The ISO I used was 10,000 or 12,800. I use custom WB set with an expodisk and use manual exposure so the metering doesn't get faked out by the backgrounds. And I shot..........JPEG. I like JPEG because of the file size, the speed and the fact that the camera does some of the work for you. But you loose the recovery ability you have with RAW. That is the trade off I suppose. I seem to take less and less photos at these events, so next one I will shoot RAW. There is nothing like the feeling of running out of memory cards when there are many fights left. It sucks.
