And the Lola T70, and the AC Cobra, and any Aston Martin, and the Porsche 917, and (I hate to admit it) the Peugeot 908, and the Mercedes W154, and or brute power the Auto Union type C.

Seriously, I think that Lamborghini lost it with the Countach and haven't designed a decent looking car since. It started to go wrong with the Espada.

Well after the Countach. ;) Lambos are a dime a dozen around here with the dealer two blocks from my office. I had Countach LP 500 posters all over my room when I was a teenager -- that and the openning scene in Cannonball Run -- when the Lambo flys up the road into the sunset with the appropriate sound gave me the chills. The dealer here did have a Reventon in for a day or two a few weeks ago (nice but no goosebumps for me). They did have a '63 250 GTO in stock a few years ago at the dealer -- now that was an awesome car!

Not that I would turn down a Gallardo -- but if I was paying for the thing I'd opt for a 430 Scuderia. :thumbsup:

I don't have a favourite other than my own car.... but the sound of any high end tuned exhaust makes me jump and the feel of the wind being sucked out of your chest by 30 - 40 cars whipping by at a track at over 100 mph will always make me smile =)

I always liked bikes better. For one, I've ridden them on the track. And two, they move in three dimensions. I love being able to watch the rider move around on the bike, trying to keep all that power under control. And there's nothing like a leaned-over power wheelie, coming out of a corner.

My personal nomination has to be the Shelby Cobra Coupe. There were only 8 originals made, and if I recall it was the only car to beat the Ford GT-40 and Ferrari both at LeMans. Anyway, a company called Factory Five builds an incredible replica of it now:

Not that any of that will ever dethrone motorcycles as my favorite. Seeing and hearing a 250hp straight-piped Honda V-5 MotoGP bike in person is life-altering.

Had the pleasure to drive an original GT40 Mk II around Laguna Seca for my old boss. He wanted pics of his "new" car "at speed". Wasnt willing to take a basically irreplaceable car around any track at race pace (considering my ability to turn race cars upside down at a moments notice. :lol: ). 100-140km/ph was all I was gonna give the photog. The sound from the 427ci V8 right behind you was just plain music even at those speeds.

Sat in the new Ford GT (the new one isnt a GT40. Ford doesnt own that name anymore). Didnt care much for the subwoofer tube between the seats head level.

Wow, that is very cool. I've never been a huge fan of the design of the car, but the motor in it, what it achieved, and the guys who drove them are certainly remarkable points in racing history.

Porsche's aren't sexy. They're engineering marvels, but they aren't sexy. If your wife likes it, it makes us wonder what you look like

I'll second the AC Cobra, and other cars way up on the sexy meter are the '62 or '67 Corvette, the '67 Chrysler GTX for non-rounded manly sexy (if you're into that kind of thing), and for current cars maybe the Bugatti Veyron or the Koenigsegg.

Wish I had a longer prime, the 100-400 looks naff compared to the 300 f/2.8 :blush2:

This is one reason they lost it, spinning out from 2nd place.
I bet the Flying Lizard Porsche wasn't happy about the gravel dumped all over his racing line !

Lens or not, that's a great capture Paul. I bet the Lizard guys were just happy enough not to get T-boned by him. And Audi once again proved the old saying - slow(ish, in the dry) and steady wins the race!
