    Thats cute Paul,
I discovered my cat likes racing and hockey, she'll watch them both and stay away, she watches some football (American) but will eventually nod off.

    INDY 500 - 2008 Wrong Way!!

Seemed this year that most cars that had mishaps were caused by going in or winding up going in the wrong direction. A couple of exceptions of course.

Didn't have anything spectacular in front of me other than a few slides behind the museum (ruined the view from turned one). Did get these few of the 'aftermath'. The pit wreck had everybody catching their breath for a moment.

Danica's moment is posted separately and I've got some 'color' photos and a brief commentary that I either have posted or will be shortly including an annual blog entry about the race.

great shots there from the stands. Maybe you need to get on the list with me and try and talk JS into taking us with him to the race.

I am on the list. Check out the blog and last year and probably the year before that (blogs and posts about INDY).

Last year a Major sponsor (who has to remain namesless, but you can easily figure it out) was working out new paints and coatings(there, that ought tell you without violating the contract) and a partner and I did the color work for the imaging.

A lot of the 'good stuff' often gets photographed during the run up to the race whether during qualifying or practice. The access is somewhat (a lot really) easier and its less chaotic.

This year I was sick enough (sinus infection, allergies, etc) and doped up with enough stuff that I didn't want to do anything but sit in one place. Standing on the roof seemed like a bad idea most of the day. The 'sky bar' didn't even get a visit. It's a blast for getting photos.

I am usually in your neck of the woods, Frankfort, two or three times a year (see the gallery for a pic of Old Stoney) so I'll pm you or email if I'm going to have time. I was at the Getrag plant closer to Tipton the week after INDY, pics in gallery and Viewfinder.

I usually go to James Dean days, got a few friends over there and we hang out on a porch and watch the crowds!! Yikes is that a mess.

    Re: Post your racin wrecks

My first post! Saw this thread and thought I'd post up the sequence I caught at Pacific Raceways this past August. They aren't the sharpest as I was spinning around to where I heard the crash coming from and just held down the shutter hoping I got it in frame. My back was turned when the crash started so I only caught the guy skeetering along the track.

    INDY 500 - 93rd - 2009

No drifting at Indy! This was the 'other' car in the last big spectacular wreck at this years 500.

A salute to the Safety Crew.

It was a bad day in Turn One, the wall started out white.

    Re: Post your racin wrecks

Two weeks ago our local track was off for the day and some friends invited us to come to shoot their son in his go kart. One of the many classes in competition that day was lawn tractors. The way this particular fellow was driving that thing made it more a question of "when" instead of "if" ...

Fortunately he got up, dusted himself off, and walked to his trailer.

So it starts in Druids, with a spinner pointing the wrong way on the track.
    Then he collects someone else.
And then the rest of the field arrives.
    So the inevitable happens ...

So after the previous incident, guess what?
Yep, they go and do it again !

You'd think by the time they graduate to a £2m a year seat in F3 they'd not do this
    - oh that's what you pay for the seat, you don't get paid. Better have good sponsors!
