Need critique on my portfolio for SportsShooter

I am planning on trying to apply to SportsShooter.com and I hear stories about ALOT of people not getting in. Getting the sponsor is not a problem. What are the strong / weak points of my portfolio? I will take any advice and please be hard on me.

    Here it is...

You have 2 shots of the same dude. Possibly from the same play. And if it is a sports portfolio, I would show more if not all sport shots.

I agree, while all the shots included are high quality, they're going to want predominantly sports images. I suspect from multiple sports events in many different and challenging situations. Either that or you want to pick one sport and learn it to the point that your portfolio of images conveys something that the rest are not seeing. There are so many sports photographers out there, you need to take a unique perspective to capture their attention I suspect.
    It's not about the camera....

I have talked to some that got in before and they only had a couple of basketball/football and the rest photojournalism stuff. SS it more of a photojournalism then a 'sports only' site. They are more concerned that you take good shots then shoot sports. I have been thinking of removing #1 but havent decided what to repoace it with.

This isn't as much a critique on the portfolio itself as the page of shots.. I think I'd want the text/caption above the photo on that page.. if it was a solo shot then it would be fine to have text under it explaining the shot.. just a random thought.. and I'll agree, though I'm not a SS member, it only makes sense to only include sports shots in a SS application portfolio
