Priceless shot of Kyle Petty with TS in the background. Was the first shot taken at Homestead last year?
If you have any NCTS shots lets see some.

Re: Here is a little of me....

I am in love with it too! I have one of Tony with JJ Yeley in the background along the same lines...lol.

Yep, it was Homestead....Man what a rush. One of the best nights of my life having that opportunity. (ha ha, I just realized I watermarked it for 2008....tee hee, oops)

I have quite a few of the #5 truck crew from Atlanta. I didn't have anyone to hang out with at the track that night so I befriended a couple of the guys and decided to pay attention to them....night shots and I dont get along so good right now...I have no flash, so if you can see past the noise.....lol I will get a few together for yah! Thanks for askin'!

Re: Here is a little of me....

Opportunities like that have to be grabbed !

If you can avoid it, stay at 1/500 or faster for your people shots.
It's surprising how fast they can move, even at 1/250 just a little tilt of the head will ruin a shot (It's happened to me enough!) and you'll get blur. I see it in your second shot at only 1/100.

I blew my best opportunity at F1 testing in Jerez.
My 70-200 f/2.8 IS failed (diaphragm not stopping down) and my new 1DmkIIN had AF issues.
The backup 20D really wasn't up to the job of capturing the cars on track, and my eyesight wasn't good enough to evaluate the manual focus in the viewfinder (it's got worse since then).

Re: Here is a little of me....

Yuck, Paul. I would've cried! but I have blown opportunities just cause I didnt know what I was doing at the time.....and yes, I did cry...lol

I am so blessed to know a couple people who have helped me immensely to get these kinds of opportunities. I try to do them justice by getting better each time.

I see what you mean....I was pretty sad that his eyes weren't as sharp as they looked in camera. (you know I chimped that one! lol) I will definitely keep that in mind next time...

Check out my smugmug for more if you like although I will probably find a reason to post most of them here....lol.

Thanks - it's not always the racing that makes a good shot.

I could not agree more! I pay A LOT of attention to the crews and the support staff at the track. They are all such good people and they work so hard.

I am glad to be here! Thanks for the welcome!

Re: Here is a little of me....

Thanks so much, Brad and Lori! Maybe you guys could give me an idea of what to post..lol. I have so much of so many different aspects of Nascar....it can get quite over whelming sometimes...lol. Not all of it is as "showable" as these though....tee hee. Jimmy had requested some other truck stuff and upon further review other than my shots of the crew and pit stops there isnt much in the way of trucks to show....yikes. Sorry Jimmy....Want to see the #5 crew in action? I can do that....lol

Actually shooting like that without flash I feel it has captured more of the night race atmosphere. Particularly in that shot of the guy with the wheelgun.

Thank you for justifying my original feelings on that subject, Paul. I feel I over-sharpened it a bit and have been wanting to tone it down a little but I didnt mind the graininess.

I'll be at the Brickyard, ORPI and........well who knows where else this year, things are pretty whacky around here at the moment and the schedule keeps changing, at the moment it appears I'll be doing more open wheel stuff than expected all thanks to the "merger", that and other "things" the paper wants covered which may kill some of my Cup plans

Re: Here is a little of me....

Talladega is about 45mins from me, but it's not really my style. I went once... it was quite an experience. I might make it back some day, but Barber Motorsports Park (roadcourse) is a little more my flavor, and only 15mins from me. I'm very lucky to have two world class race tracks and museums nearby.
