    Head First

Shooting sports is all in the timing. In this case I just got there, walked up to the third base side and started shooting and this was what the paper ran (one of this series from the play). I could have gone home right then but I stayed and froze with everyone else.

Very good, JS. I like how the picture creates a sense of anticipation. Is the runner going to be safe? Will the fielder catch the ball?

    This is a great freeze.

Very nice catch on this play. You are so right about the timing, not only being in the right spot at the right time but pushing that shutter release at the right time. I have struggled with that since switching to digital that little lag can mean all the difference. I'v been trying to find a desently priced used D2H but have failed to this point.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Re: Head First

    Thanks,

Yup Old Timer, I remember those days of "guess and shoot" hoping to beat the "laggy shutter button". Not sure what you have to spend but but you can find some good deals on Canon 1D bodies. The papers and so on are switching to 1D MK II's so there are a lot of em. There are also Nikon D1 bodies around as many have bailed on those and gone to the Canons.

You can try Roberts Distributors (online) in Indy, they had 6 or 7 1D bodies.
