Hay Bales at Sunset

This scene caught my eye while driving home yesterday. Wondering if this does anything for you? Is there enough here to keep you interested or to tell a story? Let me know what you think.

The colors are great Mike. If anything maybe crop it more to a panoramic view? I don't know, looks fine as is too.

It is interesting to me because it could be anything...barrels of hay, oil, kegs of beer...Actually if it were kegs of beer it would be the greatest picture ever ;)

That's a wonderful tobacco burst...makes me think of an old battered stratocaster. I think it could do w/o the top 15% or so.

Thats a great capture.Good eye on this one. I wouldn't change a thing. The sky has wonderful fall coloring.

Josh, I had thought about cropping this into a pano but decided I liked the negative space in the sky. I may give it another go.

N8, I was wondering about that as well. I also shot this in as a vertical and thought that was a bit too much sky, this was my compromise.

Terry, I thought about PSing them over to fill that gap myself.

I tried to get the star burst centered behind the bales, but there was something in my way that prevented that.

The negative space, and its color, makes the image for me. I'd definitely keep the gap too, since I think it adds just a touch of character and it pulled my eyes in that direction, which in this instance I liked, otherwise there would have been nothing to focus on.

It's hard to tell, but the only thing is that I feel like it would benefit from a slight counter-clockwise rotation.

Mike, I think it's an amazing capture. Simple and beautiful. Good job on seeing this and u captured it well. It's very abstracty also. You got yourself a winner here!

It works quite well and after doing some quick crops I do think the negative space at the top is the way to go. Two things though. The first is that I think it needs more space on the sides to better balance out the negative space: the top has it, why not the bottom? Also, the horizontal centering of the bales bothers me a bit. They're also hard to discern w/o caption help. But who knows - maybe that's an advantage?

Before my initial comment, I clicked the "next thread" button so didn't see the thread title at first, and honestly first thought it was a silhouette of a row of eggs. Didn't bother me that I didn't know at first though.
