It's a lovely shot and makes for very pleasent viewing. Your own distinctive colouring style comes through strongly here but what makes this for me is your choice of viewing position, giving us that lovely corner view of the buildings at right angles to each other. The bales in the foreground gives a nice sort of harvest feel although they look look ones that never made it into the sanctuary of the barn last year. Probably could have done without that old elevator thingy but it does no damage being there.
The nice bird completes what is a lovely shot.

I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan

Gary, fun shooting for you would be like the absolute pinnacle of photography for me
I like this one. Not heavy on the saturation, and just the right amount of contrast. Nicely framed.

Shoot the bird with your cloning tool....distracting to me.

I agree with the comments already made, your distinctive approach to colours really shines through here, the composition is strong and the subject matter is also clearly of your choice.

Overall I like it mostly for the composition, I also have to agree that I find the bird distracting and would clone it out.

    Good stuff.

    Re: Hay Bales and Barns

Thank you Greg, Tom, John, Frog, and Herriot for your good time to comment and offer your thoughts. I am sitting on the proverbial fence about the bird with this one mostly because I intend to make this a large (20x28) print and I think the bird would add to the shot in that size. However, in regular sized prints the bird may well be too small and mostly be a distraction and so I must take that into consideration. It will probably go, because it was not there in this particuliar shot to begin with. It was caught in one other composition of which I did not like as much as this and so I removed the bird from that one and placed him in this. Something I don't normally do (but have no issues about doing it) but just thought it added to the scene. Also, I had waited so long for one of those birds to fly into the scene that I felt I had to have it there . . .lol.

I'm always glad to hear that my particuliar post processing has come through distinctly and offers up appeal.
Thanks for all your great input here.

Gary I was about to post about the bird. If there is detail to be seen on a large print I think you should include it. If it were blurry that would be another thing. With or without you could hang a large print in my livingroom and I wouldn't complain....

I like the bird. between that, the latter, the broken shutters, and the farm machinery there is a lot of interesting things to look at.
Have you thought about placing the bird somewhere else?
I'm not the biggest fan of how it comes right off the roof line. In my opinion it may look better in the right corner of the sky.

    Re: Hay Bales and Barns

Thanks Greg, and Tiff. Greg, it does have definition and looks alot better when it gets larger, but in the smaller prints it hurts. . . . Tiff, good idea about the placement of the bird, although at this point I'm starting to feel like it was more or less something that did not need be added and fussing over it may be silly.
    thanks,
