I like your placement of element in the frame. You have very good balance in this image and the sepia tone is a nice touch with the silhouetted figure.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Thanks Chunk - Moving up from compact to SLR has opened up a whole new world.

Old Timer - I didn't change anything on the colour on this one. Only work done is crop and the frame. The colour is how it came out. But now that you mention it, it does look like it has a sepia tone..

    Re: Sunset Giraffe

Hi. Great "first" photo - if this is one of the first I look forward to seeing more of your DSLR work in future I recently bit the bullet and bought my first digital camera (a used 10D). Great learning tool as it is so easy and "cost-free" to experiment and learn new things, due to the the immediacy of the output.

Back to the image...I agree with the other posters who commented on the overall tone of the image - I really like it too. I love silhouettes, particularly ones that are done well, have striking shapes, and are well composed - tick, tick and tick for your image.

I am a bit undecided about the flare from the sun - I alternatively find it a bit distracting and then looking again think it makes a nice highlight. I think this is partly due to the fact that the colour of the sun is slightly different compared to the rest of the image.

Just my 0.02. Keep up the good work and enjoy your new toy.
