    converting to sepia?

    Hi,
I have Adobe photoshop 7.0, and am self learned on it. My problem is I have a black and white photo and would like to convert it to sepia tones. Can you tell me how I can do this.?

    Thank you

    Many ways...

    Here are a few...

Working from a copy file (always a good idea), add a new blank layer above your image (new layer icon at bottom of Layers palette). Then choose the color you want to tone the pic from the Swatches palette. With the new layer active, fill with the color (PC-alt+backspace). Then change the layer blend mode to Color (pulldown menu at top of layers palette).

Another way is to start with the bw image, go to Image>Adjustments>Selective Color (top menu bar). Using the SC box, alternately choose Whites, Neutrals, and Blacks (top Color pulldown) and play with the sliders to color the image.

A third way is to convert your image to Grayscale Mode (Image>Mode>Grayscale), then convert it to Duotone (Image>Mode>Duotone), then choose one of the duotone styles, and add monochromatic color (IOW, all colors in the same range).

Different folks like to use different methods. Try them and see which ones works best for you...
