    Waterfall

I thought this looked interesting. I am just looking for opinions and prefer that no one edits my photos. Thanks for any and all comments.

    Re: Waterfall

    Hi - thanks for posting.

The photo has some potential ...this type of shot always brings about discussion about how to capture water ..."frozen" or "misty" with long exposure - you chose frozen in this shot, which is interesting. When shooting water, the key thing (besides composition, in my opinion) is to not blow out the highlights - in this case we have some of that going on here, but not too bad - it is difficult for the camera to balance the water highlights with the shadow areas...I would suggest trying to take a shot that is slightly under-exposed and then using software to bring the levels just up to 255 - full white, but not over ...or, you can try ND filters and go for a long exposure - 1/30th of a sec or so in this case may give you a very different / interesting feel ...

Yeah, I think (for me) the best way to photograph waterfalls is definitely the longer exposures to make the water a lot more flowy and smooth. Other than that, I think the problem with this is it's a bit flat. Also the trees and the sky in the BG don't really add to this.

    Re: Waterfall

Adding to what has already been said, the composition is rather tight, it'll be nice to see more the the sides and the bottom, to get and idea where the water is going

    Re: Waterfall

Hmm. The subject's definitely worthy here. I agree that the composition should be adjusted though. I think either backing off (my preference so to give it context) or even moving closer in would be better. It may be better to move the falls farther over to one side - say the left - instead of centering. As for the frozen water, it is different, as most of the photographers here would slow down the shutter and go for blur. I've only seen this technique for models next to waterfall shots.

Oh, the colors here could probably be adjusted also, as they seem to lean a little too far towards the greens and yellows. But maybe that's just my preference.
