    Waiting for lunch

I went for a drive on Sunday and I saw a bunch of Red Tailed Hawks sitting along the road waiting for their lunch to come along. Most of them flew away before I got a chance to get very close, but this one hung around for a while. These are full frame shots, no crop. I'm not thrilled with the dead center comp on them, but I can live with it till I get another chance to get out and shoot again.

Specs for both photos: 1/640 sec. f/5.6 500mm ISO 100

    Comments and suggestions greatly appriciated.

Nice shot, and it looks like you had a beautiful day to drive around also!

Thanks Scott. I don't know if I would say it was beautiful. The sun was out and they sky was blue, but so were my fingers and toes. It was about 8 degress out that day, not counting the wind chill.

Its great that you got these shots at all. Second I like because I can get a good look at her and see the face.

I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan

    Re: Waiting for lunch

To me the bird gets completely lost in the competeing branches, shadows, etc.
A tighter crop will help but there are still branches that get in the way. I appreciate the fact that you were out on a COLD day with your camera. Keep on making photo's
