    Re: Untitled: City High?

Seems like something is missing (eh?). Maybe

the guy's looking at where his car used to be before it was stolen?
Where he used to live before the house was condemed and paved over into a parking lot?

Jokes aside, it's an interesting collage. The lighting is of course off... the guy is too lit for the scene. But it is interesting! Keep up the collages

    Laurie,
I have enjoyed seeing your various collages up here on the board. Something we do not get to see a lot of. I especially like this one because of the obvious collage effect... you can tell right off the bat that these images are separate, and I think the harsh lighting on the male subject in the photo works.
This collage especially has a "Dali-esque" look and feel to it. Very cool to see something so surreal created by real objects.
    Keep it up

Laurie you've posted some real nice stuff, I especially like this one.

Did you do this and all of your other work in a dark room?

Just curious, because I try a lot of this kind of work and it is very..VERY time consuming, some people just don't realize how hard it really is to get the perfect print when doing a montage like this, or any picture at that. That must have taken you a while to perfect, and a lot of patience.

    Very nice work.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys!
When doing a montage like this, you get the best effect if you do each print individually to the right scale and then cut them out after, then just stick them down and put the montage on a mounting board and take a photo of it again, if you have used nice matt paper you should get a nice clean image which you can reprint as a flatt montage or just scann in. Ive been diong photography long enough to have the technical stuff take a back seat and let the ideas take control of the work, i think this is key to getting the images you want from you negatives, once you are confidant in the dark room anything is possible.

The surreal feeling is terrific. I think it's the window wall on the left whose reflection makes the strongest effect- it comes straight out of another dimension. How big is the original?

I like how you've blended the different perspective and lighting orientations. One small quibble is the shadow on the back of the guys arm, it seems to not blend well. I haven't looked at your past postings but I believe I will need to add them to my list.
