    Tree Shadows

    Thanks for helping!

    Is this picture interesting?

What would make this picture better?

The picture is interesting, but there a few things you could to do drastically change the picture and get the feel I (think) your trying to achieve. I'd first crop out the trees on the top, and then do a boost on the contrast and you'll get a much more 'definite' picture, as the lines will be darker, sharper, etc. Right now on my monitor, there a tad light and the green and brown of the trees take away from that.

    Interesting shot,

    Jared

I agree with Jared on the contrast boost to bring out those shadows. But I'd keep the trees as that dark section is a key compositional element in this shot IMO. It's basically your BG and the shape of that dark area is rather pleasing.

I too think you need the trees to ground the shot. Without them, it may not even be obvious what the subject actually was. Really good idea. It was great that you saw that kind of shot on open snow. It would have been a gimme to have shot the trees and missed this one.
