    Tattoo Portfolio

I recently started doing art work for tattoo shops
Mainly to be hung for decorations and to showcase their work.

    What do you think?

I am liking your selective color effect. Great way to showcase the tattoos.

I think you need better lighting on each of them, Jeff

I didnt want there to be a lot of light. I wanted it to be kind of creepy feeling.

I understand the desired mood for these, but the lack of light is also bringing a lack of focus on some of them. I would definitely encourage you to at least light the tats better...not necessarily the whole person though.
    mostly Nikon gear

Feel free to edit my images for critique, just let me know what you did.

    Re: Tattoo Portfolio

I think the bigger concern is the depth of field being way too shallow in 1 & 3 (tats on hands are soft in both) and attention to detail in the selective coloring of 4 & 5. A quick curves adjustment to bump the contrast stronger will cure the underexposure without diminishing the "creepy" factor across the board.

The idea is good, the principle sound, but the execution needs a bit of help. I would certainly try for a reshoot.

Wow something I'm really proud if everyone else finds "concerning" nobody on this forum understands any of my visions. Your all stuck behind making sure every picture is "technically" correct and not looking at it artistically. I appreciate comments but everyone wants to be negative and shoot every picture I have posted. I'm a very successful photographer and that doesnt come from making "concerning" pictures! I'll just take my stuff down so none of you have to look at it anymore. Sorry for your time.

AudiJo, the whole purpose of opening oneself up to critique is to learn what you've missed through sharing with others. Critique by nature is critical. People pick on my stuff all the time, it makes me work harder to leave less for them to find, and I don't get pissed off when others don't share my "vision". In viewing your shots, I *think* I understand the look and feel you are going for, I've seen it before and I tried to help you with suggestions to share your vision in a stronger, more polished way. If you found that offensive, I'm sorry. I was not trying to offend. If you just want to share, without asking suggestions for improvement, the "viewfinder" section of the board may be a better fit than "critique".

You start out by making the comment that "Wow something I'm really proud if everyone else finds "concerning" nobody on this forum understands any of my visions. It is just a thought, but if everyone else is saying the same thing that there just might be something to the comments.

I think jetrim pretty much said what I was thinking. I would like to add that even when you are trying for a dark mood you still need to be able to make out what the subject is to make it an interesting photo. You can have better lighting and still achieve the mood you want. Any comments that are made here are intended to help you improve your skills. We are not here to berate or knock anyone's pictures but to help each other be the best that we can be. Getting other people's perspectives on what we are doing often broadens our way of thinking and makes us a better all around photographer. I hope you stick around and post more pictures. Please take the comments as attempts to be helpful because that is the way they were intended, Jeff
