These are pretty good...You're learning quickly. If you have an image editing program, I'd maybe recommend upping the contrast, which will really help the underwater shots pop. I also like the view of the Sound, but it seems a bit empty. I totally love mountains and water, but the pier doesn't do enough to make its way into the scene. I like the muted colors though, it captures the atmosphere of Seattle during this time of year (i.e. bleak...hehe, we inlanders like to make fun of Seattle weather, since the Cascades do a nice job of wringing the moisture out of the air before it gets here...). Overall, nicely done.

I don't know how to put this, but...I'm kind of a big deal...People know me.

love that second shot. I think I would black out the background completely or maye change the bg to a deep blue - orange's complimentary color. In this example I also used curves to deepen the low tones and brighten the highlights in the the animal. What animal is that?

Thanks.. I try to leave things as original as possible, or when I do change it, its to change it more towards what it actually looked like. It was normally a nice yellowy/orange color, with a black acrylic background.. I'm amazed it turned out as well as it did. The room that was in was not lit at all, the only light came from maybe a 40watt bulb above the massive tank to give it a dim night-like glow. I think the pic was taken at f/3.6 or something around there, with a pretty slow shutter. Luckily it decided not to sway. lol. oh, btw.. it's a Seapen.. Not sure exactly what species..

I really liked how bleak the Sound pic looked. Its always bleak. lol. It was very cold, maybe 30 degrees, mildly choppy, and the sun was just going down. I walked past that spot and decided that i just had to take a pic of the view... I didn't really want much of the pier in the picture. It was supposed to be more of the Sound and the Olympics in the background. Would of been better if I had a wideangle lens, but all I have is the stock 18-55 lens.. So doesn't do well with landscapes.. But the pic is of a typical winter dusk on the pier. hehe

    Hi Brie,

Love the Seapen, great color and clarity.

A longer lens and shoot right across the top of the water to have the mountain range 'contribute' more to the photo. I do like the light you decided to include in your making of this photo.

By the way, love the snake photos in another one of your posts. They are beautiful! Any other reptillian (sp?) friends in your life?

Impressive yet again. Nice shots. The underwater ones really turned out well. The first one is a beautiful place, but the subject matter is lacking. Maybe a boat, or even somebody looking at the water, but it's just kinda the framing for a good shot.

Nice shot and love your shooting,

    Jared

I love the shot of the Olympic Peninsula...the clouds make it look awesome.

    I wanna go back now.

You've captured the dull grey weather nicely.
We were out there for a conference at Microsoft.

    #2 is my favourite.
Simple, techically good, and a real impact from that contrast.

In the first 1 I love the depth & detail in the sky, & the highlights & shadows in the mountains. In the 2nd I like how sharp the subject is & the composition. ( I also like what Chunk did with it.) No.3 I like how you filled the frame with such a colorfull & toothy subject.
