    Never seen archery pictures before...

The first one is way too blown out (or over exposed). The angle and perspective on the next two could be better. It seems to me setepping several paces back and getting even with the shooter might have been more effective, but you were there not me.

Number 2 is by far your best shot in my openion. It is very difficult to get a good photo when you are presented with the lighting situation that you had, very strong back light with a shaded subject, and then trying to incorporate the "motion" of the subject as well. Very good effort!

Uaually Archers stand in a line to the left and right, much like the targets. You can have up to 4 shooting at the same target a times.

Due to safety reasons, the only real place to take shots, is either behind or slightly to the side/back of each archer. As everyone can see, there is more likely than not, an enclosed area behind leading out to the brightness of the target area and is a fairly big problem.

I think bigger aperture and faster shutter would also help with these images, and also set your meter reading of the camera on the archer over the target area, or use so fill flash to brighten up the archer a bit more.

Yes, when I was younger I used to do Archery as well, it was fun, but is hard on a bad back, that I have now.

I agree with Aaron. I find the perspective of the second shot the most appealing. Tough lighting conditions. If the opportunity arises again, definitely try these once more. You may encounter more favorable lighting. Good shot.
