    Rocky Mountain storm

    Does this shot work?

Shot from Dillon, CO, looking west.

    Re: Rocky Mountain storm

It just doesn't feel right, too much grey for me, or too little.
The triangle of mountain and cloud on the left is at almost perfectly 1/3
It's the righthand side that doesn't quite balance the picture I think.
There's great cloud detail in there.
I think I'd like more on the right hand side !
Not to crop this picture, but extend it

If I try to crop it vertically, I want more too!
I did try cropping it, but I don't think it's improved.

Lot of great elements in the image, I agree that the large area of gray sky just doesn't make it. I looked a few different crops but failed to achieve a better image. The snow covered peaks are great one other small nit would be to boost contrast a tad to try and emphasize them more and perhaps add a little pop to the sky. Very nice overall.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

I played around with contrast extensively, but none of the results were satisfactory, mostly because of the sensitivity of the large dark area of ground vs. the large white area of snow. It became too unrealistic looking.

What about this image, adding more foreground? Does this work better?

I like the one with the forground trees, Kelly. I think there's a greater sense of depth. I like the shot with its brooding clouds. When you see it coming like this, you know not to head up that next pass.
