    Mountain Weather

    Hi all,

A storm was forecasted to come in today (Monday). Watching the lenticular (sp?) clouds build and then blow off the peak was a great show. Here is one of the captures.

    Cheers,
    Tim

    Re: Mountain Weather

This is great...Looks like the snowpack on Hood is a bit scant, just like all our mountains here in Idaho. The ski resorts have about 20 inches, and it was about 60 degrees this weekend.

The only thing I can think to change about this is the trees in the foreground. They don't really distract me that much, but maybe showing their bases would put them into a better context...or find a spot where they aren't in the shot. But I think the mountain and the clouds do a pretty good job of holding my attention, even with the trees there.

I don't know how to put this, but...I'm kind of a big deal...People know me.

I agree about the trees. Either a little more or just get rid of them. That being said, you could crop it quite easily. Just on a side note regarding snow, the mountains and ski resorts up here get around 1.6-2 meters of snow, so roughly six feet of snow

    Great shot!

Ahemmm... If California wasn't stealing all our moisture...

we would have tons of snow. We typically get 5 meters! Sigh....

Anyway, I did rework the shot per both your recommendations. I usualy try and stay within a 4x6 ratio crop -- easy to get prints made. But, I didn't here because it would include "No Parking" signs and other distractions.

    Thanks for the comments...
    Tim

p.s. I dig the snowboard jump shot and wouldn't change it...

Compelling shot. Shows the character of the mountains very well IMO. Makes me want to go back to the Sawtooths.
