    Red Brick In Decay

Ok I'll admit it I have a thing for red today. I like the way it reflects late afternoon sun. This was a building that caught my eye because of its run down state and yet somewhat regal look. It must have been an important building at one time sitting adjacent to the railroad tracks, some kind of a company store or even an inn or tavern. Compostion isn't great but what do you think of color and contrast in the image?

This is real nice O T. I think the composition is good. The sun is kind of hard on that front wall but the fact that we can see the other wall with no sun contrasts real nice. And the sky with those dark clouds just compliments the red tones. Definetely feels like late afternoon with the sun giving all its got left before it disappears below the horizon. I like this .

    Oooooh

Great light! I love to shoot with skies and light like this! The warmth of the light is perfect for the color of the building. I agree with you that the composition is challenging; I would like to see a little more room, not such a close crop of the building on the left side. But then who knows what else is brought into the picture. I like the dark shadows, the contrast is fine, imho.

There were a lot of distracting poles and lines on the left. I would have liked to have had a little more room also. Thanks for the kind comments.

    the detail on the porch

I think this was glorious light!

I especially like the shadows and poles and steps of the porch...try a crop maybe just featuring that section...the only distrcating element for me as a whole is the set of wires on the left.....beautiful colors

I guess that I am just not as adventurous as you when it comes to my crops. I love some of the work you have posted that has an avant-garde look and feel to it. I like it but I have trouble replicating it. Mine never seem to make the grade.

I realized once you crop the angles get weird because of the persepective...I wonder if you could re shoot at the same time of day and try different angles(maybe closer to the steps along the porch or just focusing on the shadows being cast along the back wall).... I think this shot is composed well and again I love the colors and the time of day...you did well

...that's just my fruity and fluffy ideas for ya...forgive me please I cloned out a shadow on the wall and softened the bushes up front....but here's my take for fun....
