    project52 week 1

Decided to do a 52 week project this year and lighting-essentials.com seems to have one that's right up my alley - geared toward commercial photography. Project for week 1 "Come up with a personal vision statement and take a shot of something around the house that matches it". It's sometimes hard as a photographer to define your vision or style. Here's what I came up with:
    Personal Vision:
To entice the viewer through dramatic use of light, color, and geometry.

Jet, this is really beautiful. Well done. Love everything about it.

Also so sleek. is there like a 2nd layer of gausian blur that had a different layer style? soft light?

love the treatment. the composition, lighting etc. are all well done also.

Nicely done, Jim. You have many different angles and geometric patterns here as well as both reflected light and the backlit light from the cameras lcd screen. Books that show your interests as well. Covered.
    Interesting project.
Good luck with the other contest

    Thanks guys!

    Liban,
This was actually done in six layers
The LCD image was added in post
The Gaussian blur effect comes from setting a slightly blurred "overlay" layer on top of a high pass filter layer (to keep the detail while giving the image a bit of a dreamy "ethereal" quality - similar to the old Hollywood black stocking over the lens trick)

Wooah, nice start Jet! I love the contrast and subject matter. It seems like it's all glowing and in a good way. Love the books in the back there too. Only thing I don't like is that the way it is rotated, it seems like the whole kitten kaboodle is sliding off the desk - is that just me feeling that way? I'd also like a little more space above the camera. Very creative, excellent execution of your idea.
