    Planet Earth

    A Kodachrome film scan.

    Hope it isn't too dark.

I thought about cropping some off of the top. But in the end, I left it.

I see a little lens distortion on the horizon, did you crop the left side off? and it also could use a little more detail in the shadows. The composition is fine. I also like the color tones of the sky.

I like this one GB, the silhouettes work really well against the color palette of the sky.

I enjoyed this shot. I like the vastness of the scene and how small the people are in the frame. It gives me a sense of appreciation for the scene.

If I were you, I'd crop from the bottom putting the couple on the bottom 'thirds' line of the frame. that would make it a bit more panoramic and dramatic imo. but it's still a great capture.

This makes me feel as though there is a stiff chilly breeze coming from the left, and the chap on the left looks like he is wearing a heavy jacket , this all adds to the impression. This is quite a cool shot if you will excuse the pun.

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

    Re: Planet Earth

thanks guys. Traveling this week so just looking @ this. Greg, I don't think it's cropped but I'll check. I shot it @ 24mm so it might be a little distorted. Thanks Jet, better than just another sunset. Funny cause I don't go in looking for human interaction, but maybe I should. Liban, I just tried that.. It sems to over emphasize the bright empty sky. Maybe the blacks help balance the couple also. However, I did try a crop removing the right half. It removes the sun, but it might be ok. Pete, thanks too.. I just saw them and decided to add them on the spot. Guess it helps to keep an open mind.

That's my biggest worry on it Daq. But sometimes blandness can be the most inviting thing (opposes busy-ness). Alas, I'm not sure about the overly purple cast and lack of contrast. I will play with it some more...

The silhouettes are wonderful as you don't immediately spot them when you first glance at the picture. It could do with being brightened just a tad though.

Don, Moon - I also see it as being a little dark. Don, I like the brightness on the people and rocks but it does blow out the sunset, losing definition. Seems like this is a common issue with sunsets. I think PS has a tool that brightens only the shadow areas, might be worth a try. The colors in your edit are a nice alternative.
