    Nipton

Railroad building. Very quiet area except for the cars driving by.

Great image Greg! I am sure people will say something about the phone line/power line, but I actually think it works in the image, it kind of mimics the curves of the sign post. As for critiques, I guess I would like to see some more contrast, it seems a bit flat. But that might be my work monitor. I would also like a little more space to the left of the building, it seems to be to close to the edge of the shot. Overll, I really like it.

Thanks fellows. I agree the house is a little closer to the edge than most would like. It was farther, but when I straightened the shot in post processing it moved it over a bit too much.

Here's another shot that has a bit more room. I can't read the sign - can you?

SPOT O FLO... BIN CAR...? in context of the area, what do you think it might say? I like the simplicity of the photo, and this one is much more balanced and has better contrast than the first one. My only regret is that the flying bird wasn't caught behind the pole support wire. A split second earlier on the snap and it would have been in perfect position.

I like the depth of this photo. I think the close up sign works well. I don't even mind that electric wire in the sky. The house in the 2nd shot is in a much better position (away from the edge)

These remote areas that you find look excellent for some star trail photo stacking photography :-) Man, I've been waiting for clear skies on a saturday for over a month now. lol. Just to go and find a dark spot to shoot a star trail photo. Where ever this is, it seems there are no clouds in sight!

I had the same thought! And FYI, I'm just posting this to help get my post count up to 10 so that I can share some of my star trail and other shots on this board...

Yeah DurtGurl, looking forward to seeing your work. Arizona is a playground for photographers, so I'm sure you have some good stuff.

It's funny about the distance of the building from the edge. I bet if I showed this picture to non-photographers that not one of them would mention that. It seems like we photogs see things differently, more critically (that's a good thing).

Not sure what SPOT O FLO BIN CAR ??? means in any context. Maybe the writer was Vietnamese? Or maybe the folks who work at train stations have their own acronyms.

Yeah I think the bigger power line should go but hats off for trying to make it work. I love everything else about it. Nice processing.

Thanks Greg. The 2nd post is a little too contrasty for me, but it's apparently better-liked by everyone else (could be due to monitor differences, too).
