    New River Gorge Bridge

I shot both of these this past week on a road trip through west virginia. Does either one seem to work better ? I can't really decide which I like more. Any comments appreciated.

I like the second shot. I think since you have just a little on the top one, it takes away from if, but if you add more I think it works. Again, as with your boat photo, this seems a tad soft, but that's probably just from scanning. A nice shot and a great angle of the bridge!

    Well done,

    Re: New River Gorge Bridge

Where to begin? The colors are a tad grey, but that is probably due to UV, so not to worry. Might try a polarizer next time if you have one. I am a little disappointed that you didn't get any closer. A closer view would be nice, showing more of the steelwork up close, using the color, and texture to great effect. The trees are a tad annoying as well. They seem to be hiding the subject, which makes this picture slightly frustrating. A nice wide view of the bridge would be nice, but the trees seem to be preventing that. Much potential, but needs work.

The second one is better because the vertical layout emphasizes the height of the bridge, and it seems slightly less hazy. The first one shows far too much of the leaves on the left and the right side -- they're not that interesting, and you still have the framing in the second one.
