LandScape Shot Need Critique badly

Well today i took this at one of my dads customers house, my dad is a landscaper, anywayz, i just wanted to know why this looks so wierd, it has like a brown haze to it, i dont know why, mabey im just seeing things, mabey its my monitor
and the other question this picture i took with a whole other bunch are ment to be put on a website he has to sell the job, well the question is would this picture sell a job><

When I first looked at this image, without reading your post first, I was looking for a focal point. Could be the bridge, could be the rocks, but nothing stood out as a main subject. After reading the post, I want to see a before shot of this same area for compairison. It looks like you had a nice sunny day, with lots of shade in the area of the photo wich could be a great selling point if shade is what the customer is looking for. I don't see the brown haze you are talking about on my monitor, but the whole image seems a little dark, but I think that is caused by the shade. All in all I think the photo is good, but do really sell the job, I would like to see the before, as well as the after. Just my 2 cents.

Hey mjs thanks alot for the comments, i would do a b4 and after but i usually do not see the jobsite b4 they start working on it and the b4 was like a normal grassy lawn but thanks again

Hey youngshooter,
Looks like your Dad does good work, but this shot would not really help to sell his work as the composition makes it difficult to get a good feel of the landscape. There is too much wooden fence in the pic and in a confusing angle making all the posts and rails overlap and crisscross and block out alot of the actual landscape. I would try this again but take a different perspective, perhaps standing on those stonesteps or pathway I see in the left side bg and shoot where you can have the landscape in the foreground with the fencing behind. And try lots of different shots from many different angles. It's sort of a numbers game where you take lots of shots and your sure to find one that works. Hope we see some more.

One option which may make it look better is to take the shot from a high view so that you get the feel for the plan of the garden, Perhaps put a plan on the web site with the angles whrere the photos are taken from.

The photo you have here, the bridge cuts the picture in half without lwtting us see what the bridge spans, The dark shade in the top left is far to dark so we can;t see anything. I agree with Gary - you need to take lots of shots from different places and see what works

I dont notice a brown haze, there is just a lot of brown in the picture. I don't think this would sell a job, because from this angle it just looks like a job unifinished. It looks like upturned dirt, but not much else. I don't know if thats what it actually is, but it will probably look better if you take a shot of it WITH the house (if there is one), because after all landscape does have to work with the house too. It might make it less confusing and busy because it will give you a focus and direction. If there is no house definitely try it from a different angle.
