    Hyde Mill (inspired by Chunk)

Chunks recent posts of the Hyde Mill inspired me to give it a shot myself. This is one of my favorite photo stops and I come here quite often. Please let me know what you think.

Bingo. Bang on. Sweet composition, nice flow on the water.

Easy to see why it's a favorite!
    Sweet exposure!
    Nice colors!
The water flow makes it look 10 degrees colder.

Great job with the water, Michael. This is a super place to set up a camera.
Is it just me or do the woods have a strang red tent to them?

    Overall super!

I think the red tint you are seeing is a result of a filter that I was using. I have no idea what the filter is designed to do. The only thing it says on it is FD, but I haven't had time to look it up yet. I put it on because it had a little bit of a tint to it and I was hoping that it would block enuf light to let me use a longer shutter speed. I was also using a polarizer for the same reason.

Ecellent composition a glorious place, water captured beaurifully, but don't like the red tint to the picture.

I would have liked to see this photo with the water captured with a higher speed to compare the difference without the red filter.

Thanks for the imput. The more I look at this, the less I like the red tint myself. If the weather is nice this weekend, I may go back and experiment some more.

    Thanks again.

Wow. That water is great. I really like the composition too.

Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater here. This shot is great in B&W and is also worth trying to remove the color cast in color. Paintshop pro has an automatic color balance with an option to remove color cast that does a pretty good job on this shot. Does PS have something similar?

(BTW, all the inspiration in these shots leads right back to you)

Thanks Chunk. I'm not sure if PS has that feature or not. I have PS 5, and Elements 2.0 at home so I will have to play around with them later. I have CS here on my Mac G5 at work, so I will play around with it here today too.

Oh yeah. Next time you want to use that funky filter (not a bad idea), do a manual white balance prior to exposure and there shouldn't be any colorcast.

Absolutely wonderful image. For me, everything works here. I even like the tint. Great job. This image is certainly worth framing and hanging on the wall.

Try going out with a fresh snow, when it covers trees, because now the image is too dark and that spoils it.

oops, one of those pics was to be b&w, I can't view them on the Mac, but they should be fixed now.
