    1850's mill

I took this shot the other day as the sun was starting to go down. I think this mill was build in the 1850's but I'm not sure since the sign was covered by a tree. I changed the mill and the man-made structures to b&w to help portray their age and to mask the fact that the wheel on the mill has been rebuild and the color of it doesn't match the aged look of the rest of the structure. What do you think?

    Hello Michael

I think your image works very well...the setting and composition are good and your desaturation to age age the mill and wheel works very well......the grey does not look un-natural in that setting and forcuses the viewers attention on the mill.

Things to "change"?? I would like to see the image a little larger say 640 on it's longest side (it's on the small side as it is). I suspect in a larger image the highlights in the trees to the right of the image may need a little dodging to darken. I would also question wether the old building is leaning as much as it seems to in the image or wether an slight adjustment to the horizon is needed????

As is a very nice shot.
    Focus on the positive!
