Honest opinions needed.

I took these pictures (and many others similar) of a friend's baby the other day I am hoping I could get a few honest comments here as I feel this is not as good as some I've seen. They were taken with a Canon G3

the first if you tilt your neck to the left dramatically;)...it's a great shot...well lit...good contrast (for my taste) and it has a good composition.

the second try a tight square crop (lop off the left side) and I think your friend is one lucky individual... you really did this sweet little bundle justice

nice work---can we see more... what type of lighting did you use?

I don't think #1 is neccessarily a keeper. Dad is a bit anonymous, his hair competes with baby for attention and the compostion feels awkward.

#2 is special. People who know Dad will recognize him in #2 from the little bit we see. The lighting is perfect and I love the baby's expression.

What you have to say. I am far from being any sort of photographer and yet love to dabble with a camera. I will certainly crop the 2nd shot, I can see what you are saying with this. The first, I think I will leave as the parents have expressed their joy with this shot. As for lighting. I try my best to use natural light where I can, this can be difficult with moving kids and a dig camera!

I dont have many pictures to share as yet, but I will as the crop up. I particularly like to photograph kids and babies when I get the chance, but my eye isnt that creative. I guess I'll learn as i go with the help from you guys

If all the girls were the same, like triplets. I would be creeped out, and therefore would give you a high five. As far as technical aspects, you're kickin ass. I just find the subject matter to be a little Hallmark.

You are way way too hard on yourself. Trust a fellow newbie when I say you have a very nice eye. I am sure that with your mastery of the technical aspects of photography will be delivering pro level shots in no time.

I love all your shots, especially the one with the 3 girls, and the father standing up.
