    Help needed...

I took this today, and like the photo, any suggestions on how this needs to be cropped to get the most out of the photo, I really like this image.

    I'd have done this vertical

Just the reddish building, and then in sepia. It has kind of an oldish feel, and the cars on the side really take away from that. The other building isn't too bad, but doesn't have the same feel.

    my 2 cents

Nah, absolutely no crop needed. A blurred background is a much better improvement in my opinion.

    Agree with Adina

I think the building on the left is worth a shot all of it's own. However, I think you could still crop it here. I'm not crazy about the "notes" on the door of the building on the right. That's a nitpik!

2nd choice - I would crop out the cars and leave the other two buildings in tact. If you do this, I would also crop the top part of the red building. Either way, subject is great - and if you get rid of the cars, it will improve the image.

    Nice image.

I think what contribues to the home town look of this photo is the ferris wheel in the background. Too bad the telephone pole and the cars are there. An old jalopy would have looked cool!

    I like this shot Heath.

I took the shot, and never noticed the feris wheel, I was so intent on the building. LOL, good eye Lara.

if the ferris wheel runs at night

have you considered doing this shot at night with the wheel lit up...and the street lights lighting the scene...just a thought.

I think Joe D had the right idea but maybe not as severe a blur...if you can shoot again try different angles....

as usual good eye for catching these sorta things

    Busy...

I think it is a bit too busy...
Like Adina said, the cars are distracting.
If anything crop the cars to the left.

if you really felt like it...

you could go to town on the bricklaying in PS (provided you felt this was a strong enough piece) but I'd just reshoot ;)

a quicky masonry job.....just to see what the cars would have looked like gone

    Good question....my experience

I've often wondered about these lines. When I used to post from my G3, I got these lines frequently after the image was posted on the internet. What I found was that if I made the copy larger or smaller, they disappear. They wouldn't show up all the time either. I did ask this question, but didn't get an answer, and actually some posters said they couldn't see the lines (or whatever they are) on their monitors. I'd like to know myself. I haven't had this experience using a DSLR. Maybe it's coincidence (cause is gone?) or what? I don't know, but am curious.

Thanks for bringing it up. It's been a long time since I've seen this type of thing.

    Hello Heath

That second version look just right to me. It seem's that going for a vertical frame was the most appropriate thing to do. I find the red building to be interesting but the building at the extreme right (and obviously the cars) aren't interesting as far as I am concerned.

I think that trying a night shot that would include the wheel would be great as said Natalie.

    regards

    Seb

the "steps" you refer too are created when I take the image down to a low rez for this site, the original is much cleaner. If you know how to make it a low rez image that will upload to here please let me know.

Try a different interpolation. My example shows where it can be found when you use Photoshop (Resample Image). Also try sizing down in more than one step.
