Nice. Has a good feel, mood and warm color tones. A familiar setting that anticipates a good time. I also like the title; Good Soldiers = full glass as opposed to empty glasses or bottles = dead soldiers. Not sure where that expression came from and am only guessing that's what you ment. I agree about removing the whitish circle in lower right of the frame. It's an unanswered question and a minor distraction.
Is this a single exposure HDR?

i like the table set up and the angle and the lines, not so much the noise. you know, one feeling i get from a lot of your photographs is 'luxury' . this is no different. rugged luxury but luxury nevertheless.
i actually kinda like the window in the background, it opens up the shot. and gives it some area to breath in. i like it overall.

Yeah I do intend to start addressing the noise of my process more in the future, but just haven't been motivated yet.
Yes this is like most of my shots. One shot raw. I pull out several exposures, do an aggressive tone map, and then take a dark exposure, a light exposure, and the tone map and blend them to my satisfaction. One thing I have started doing in the last few shots is using textured brushes to do the blending rather than flat opaque brushes.
well done. I'd like to see the flash eliminated from the large glass on the right. Also consider that the wide angle effect can be interesting, but if used commercially you'd probably be asked to eliminate the lens barreling.
Cool stuff daq, and this one has your signature all over it. You've managed a really cool effect here that is very unique to your style. I really like how you managed the overall exposure of the scene, which has a huge range in it.
If I were to change one thing, it would be that hot spot on the glass on the right. At least, the reflection of you in it.
