    On the down run

This is a shot I took at a Ski Jumping event I attended on Sat Feb 19th 2005. The skier was on the down ramp when I notice the sun was peering thru the trees in a small area on the track, I timed the shot so that when the skier hit the sun spot I took the shot to get the effect of the sun blurs, I am using a Canon 300D 70-200MM F2.8 IS L shot at
ISO 200 at 1/250th F11, please leave your comments, they are of importance to me to bring my work out.

Hmmmm, I'm not huge on the flare aspect, so take my critique with a grain of salt. Anytime you have flares, you have to make sure they don't take away from your subject, or there strong enough to be your subject. Here, there overpowering the subject waaaaaaaay too much. Case and point being the flare right over the skiiers face, and the big overexposed area on the bottom right. Good idea, just a tad too much,

I'm not a huge fan of lens flare either. I think that they ruin a shot more than the help it and that is the main reason that I want to get hoods for my lenses. I think Jared hit the nail on the head with this one. The flare is way to overpowering in this shot. I think it's great that you timed your shot and nailed it the way you wanted to, but it's just not my cup of tea. It's always great to experiment and try new techniques so keep it up!
