    Candid shot I'm happy with...

Took this of my girlfriend when she was laying on the floor with her cat. There wasn't a heck of a lot of light, but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. Took this with my Leica, Summicron 50mm lens wide open @ f2, probably about 1/30th. Film is Ilford Delta 400. Let me know your thoughts.

My first reaction was, where's the cat?! The cat is a tad dark, but given it's black and white, I guess it's not to shabby. I like the lamp idea, and her expression is good. Pretty good shot with the lighting you had,

Great candid - strong intresting contrast, and a lovley subject. I'd be tempted to crop just below the lampshade? The dark square in the top right doen't do a lot for me.

It is good in that her expression and mood is interesting and also the lighting adds alot, but no cat ( not important for the shot) and the black square lamp? is definetely a sore spot . Not a bad shot overall.

Thanks for the input, guys! I really hate including animals in photos, but that particular cat is always close at hand. Despite that, it of course never holds still long enough to remain in the light. I've tried various crops to get rid of the lamp, but that leaves the picture feeling a little off-balance, and when I removed the negative space at the bottom, the original feel of the shot seems to be lost on me. Feel free to play with it and post any improvements, though. I appologize for the quality of the scan. I'm not interested in going digital, but I definitely need a better scanner if I'm going to continue to post on this board.

Did you actually try to shoot that or were you drunk and fell on the shutter?

Just kidding guys, McMadCow is a friend of mine. I like the partial lighting on the face and I agree with Jar, there as some shots that are only effective in B&W and some that are only effective in color. I think think this is a good example of that; in color it may have had a busy feel to it.

Alright! someone else who is not interested in digital besides the obvious of posting on this forum. Do you process your own negatives? If not you should just get the negatives done and then get a CD of your film. This keeps the cost of processing cheap(er) and allows you to see what prints you want done AND you then can post on this forum (which is the shizznit) without the scanner problems.

On the picture...candid shots are the best to see someone's true beauty. I hate model shots and forced pictures. This looks nature and is a real winner.
I don't mind the cat not being seen. The lamp has to go tho, it is way too distracting and takes away from the picture too much. I did a crop (with my desk ruler ;) ) and like what I saw without the lamp. It cuts off a bit of her head but that does not bother me compared to the lamp.
Keep up the good work and keep posting...I like knowing I'm not the only one who is not using digital.
    Cheers
