Hey MB, I really love pix of the C&O. Drove a mtn bike from Carter Rock to Harper's Ferry along that canal once, a lot of fun and very interesting scenery. Too bad I didn't really have time to stop and do much photography!

Looking at the shots, I think they're good and I like the black and white perspective. It's different to see that in the summertime when you're expecting to see greenery. The top shot is strong but I think it might be better if there was more space above the brick arch, for it seems a tad cramped now. It is also not as sharp as it could be -- did you use a tripod? It doesn't seem needed sometimes but your pix will be sharper (or much sharper) if you do, esp early in the morning when the light is low and the shutter speeds are long and apertures are wide.

The next two shots with small DOFs are good. The 2nd shot is well executed but the in-focus subject isn't all that interesting. The last shot is the strongest, but, his face is maybe a tad dark. The background is lighter and that makes it grab my attention -- I find myself looking at the bench more than Lincoln. A bit more lighting, perhaps with a reflector, might do it.
